I always found it hard to learn. But here with Sign Language I find it so easy. The classes are interesting and I enjoy them so much. I am about to finish my basic course in computing and go on to design. It is really nice to be here at the deaf way Delhi.

This year with your help, we:  

♦ Honoured first graduates from our new Deaf Education Centre at Biza.
♦ Established a Deaf students’ hostel near Ludhiana.
♦ Awarded Helen Keller Awards to encourage Deaf students to excel academically and generally.
♦ Held a Deaf Awareness March in Chandigarh.
♦ Organized the first all Punjab Deaf Kho-kho Championships at Jallander.
♦ Held the annual Deaf Painting Competition at Chandigarh and Ludhiana.
♦ Held the annual Deaf Inter-School Quiz Competition at Chandigarh and Ludhiana.
♦ Participated in Disabled Day activities in Chandigarh and Delhi.
♦ Organized the first Children’s Day Mela for Deaf children in Chandigarh.
♦ Hosted a Christmas/New Year’s function for Deaf adults and their families.
♦ Visited to Deaf communities in other cities including Jammu, Shimla and others to offer training and support.
♦ Held Annual Deaf retreat and leadership training conference in Mysore.
♦ Held other retreats and adventure activities for Deaf persons
♦ Improved and new Deaf advocacy initiatives and websites like:

And we are very very thankful to to the tireless Deaf activist from Canada, Jasmine Gill Uppal whose visit to Chandigarh towards the end of the year, inspired and motivated us and many others!
